    Question about adapter

I have a Pioneer 110D dvd-burner and im having problems with it
i noticed in nero in the 'choose recorder' window it says its adapter is viamraid
and i asked my friend who has a pioneer 108 and he says his adapter is atapi.

im sure that my burner is IDE.
So i was wondering maybe this is my problem?

Could be. Sounds like your DVD drive is connected either to a separate PCI IDE/RAID card or the additional IDE RAID channels found on some motherboards. Many IDE/RAID cards claim to be compatible with both ordinary IDE devices (H/drives) and ATAPI devices (optical drives) but some definitely don't like optical devices. The same may be true of additional IDE/RAID channels on mobos (though I've found these to be more tolerant).

If you've got a set-up like this it's best to connect optical drives to the standard mobo IDE channels and hard drives to any spare mobo channel or an IDE/RAID PCI card.

I also think you maybe using a separate PCI IDE card. Are you using SATA as that can use it as well?

What version of nero are you using?
Also that drive is atapi and only connects to ide channels.

Well i found the problem and it was i had an onboard RAID

so i simply moved the burner to a normal IDE

but now the buffer is going up and down constantly - why is that?

Yes, that was obvious, and whoever built your computer didn't know what he or she was doing, buffers aren't static!

I am not talking about jumps from 98%-100%

              mine jumps from 19%-98%
the buffer is all over the place
              not minor changes

post a nero log, it's in program files, ahead/nero/NeroHistory.log
scroll to the bottom and copy and paste the last burn(of a dvd)
