AC3 Question

Hey all, I have a question. I have a demuxed AC3 file that is 6 channels. I want to mute one channel while keeping the rest intact. I got a trial of Maven3d and Sonar 4 but both treat it as 2 channels. I need all 5.1. Can Nero Wave Editor read AC3? If not, what is the best (free) way to do this?

PS - can WAVs be 5.1 channel? I used Maven3d to convert the file to WAV that NWE might be able to read. Would it be 5.1 channel?

USe BeSweet - see my sig. Make sure you get the BeSweet GUI. It's a complex prog so play around with it a bit on a small piece of audio to see the setting that work for you.

alright, I downloaded it. However, there are a couple of weird things that happen. One: when the file reaches 100%, it says "operation aborted" (This is BeLight BTW) Two: When I convert to an MP4 file that Nero Wave Editor can read - it turns out as 2 channels even though I specified 5.1. When I convert to a 5.1 channel WAV, it locks up in NWE.

Somehow I am thinking that the demuxed AC3 might not be 5.1 channel - though the DVD is. Does PGCDemux keep the 5.1 channels when demuxing?

PGCDemux just demuxes. Doesn't transform the audio at all.

Now, you're MP4 souce is probably 2 channels. If so, you gotta remember that you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. You can't put more data than is already there. You can label it 5.1 but that won't make it 5.1 unless it's already 6 channels to begin with.

Still, a BeSweet WAV should load in NWE.

verryyyyy odd. It SHOULD be a 5.1 channel AC3 file, for the DVD claims Dolby Surround and I have been able to play it on surround systems before. However, under MP4, I checked "5.1 channels" but it is still 2 channels. Is that Nero? Does NWE show all 6 channels if it is a 5.1 file?

The Wave turned out to be like 3.5 GB and under Windows Media Player it says that the buffer is not big enough - probably the same problem in NWE.
