turn an AVI into a mpg???

hi
i want to encode an AVI file into a mpg or mpeg, i dunno what the difference is. what program should I use? And do I need a fast computer to encode it into a MPG? Does CPU speed have a factor on the quality??? Or instead does it just take longer? Enclosed is a screen cap of the file I want to turn into an MPG or MPEG? What ever is better. Any info would be great.

You can use TMPGEnc to convert .AVIs into MPEGs - but if you "dunno" the difference, why do you want to do this?

ummm i don't know the difference between and mpg and mpeg. the reason i want to convert it is because AVI format is a form of streaming video, and i prefur the smoothness and quality of mpgs.

Although there's nothing formal about it, many times an extender of .MPG is used to identify MPEG1 format, while an extender of .MPEG is used to identify MPEG2 format - but again, these are NOT standard designations. You may fine MPEG2 format files with .MPG extenders.

You can use TMPGEnc to convert .AVIs to ANY MPEG format (MPEG1, MPEG2, VCD, SVCD, etc.)...
