Quicktime 7 doesn't want to play Apple trailer

okay so i downloaded a trailer (.mov) from apple.com it didn't play the video only sound... and then realised i had to get quicktime 7 as i was still on 6. so i got myself quicktime 7 and then played the trailer, it plays about 5 seconds of it and then gives me this error:

all other .mov files i have work fine.

what's a G5 windows system?

any ideas? i really want this trailer to work.

you don't need a G5 equivalent system to run 480x228 H264, apple's talking a load of BS. for >=720p, you'll need something powerful.

if your PC is say 2.4Ghz intel/amd equivalent, you should be fine to play most H264 stuff at or below dvd res.

if that's the ONLY mov file that isn't working, it could be that the file became corrupt during download. tried re-downloading it?

yeah i did try download it again, didn't work. same story. i'll try download a different trailer. also my pc is 1.24 ghz, 512 ram, adm athlon. windows xp.

your pc specs shouldn't affect whether the file will play or not, just how smoothly it will play...

but yep download another one & see...

it only seems to happen to .mov clips with the Format: H.264
i think it might be my computer. what else could it be? the movie is fine. i've tried to reinstall quicktime 7 plenty aswell with no luck.

it really seems to me that quictime isn't installed correctly, or is corrupt, but since uninstalling nad re-installing didn't help, try this (this method definitely works, i've watchd apple's HD trailers on my PC perfectly):

uninstall all traces of quicktime on your PC, download & install 'quicktime alternative' from http://www.free-codecs.com.

use a player of your choice (not quicktime player) to play the files. i highly recommend 'media player classic'

yup, it'll install the codecs, so you can play on any dshow player

means you can play quicktime files on pretty much any player

damn, i just got the blue screen of death. lol. blue screen with errors on it. had to reboot. after trying to watch that trailer, that blue screen came up. still doesn't wanna play that damn H.264 clip :/

wow, your pc really hatest quicktime H264. i searched, seems not many people are having this issue.

got latest graphics card drivers? latest directx?

try VLC (videolan) player. it uses its own codecs.

that blue screen doesn't happen everytime i open it and play it. that was a one timer. but yeah, was when i was playing it. i got the latest graphics card drivers and directx. i seriously wonder what the problem is, i know it can't be an official apple trailer. why else would they allow it on their site? must be my pc eh.

yes, its gotta be your PC, possibly a conflict from say other codec/quicktime installations. did you try VLC?
