    Capturing Video from Camcorders

    Hello,

I am using Video DVD Maker, a freeware, to capture footage from my camcorder to PC. Is that a good softward to use, any other suggestions on what other software may be better?

Also, what settings should be in place when capturing to make sure I have optimized quality video and audio. After capturing the video, I use Sorenson Squeeze to encode it to swf/flv for Internet streaming. Anyone have any suggestions on settings and params.

    Thanks.

    Hi.
I could be wrong, but what I expierienced cheap software have bad encoding. When there are panig or zooming involved, picture is not very smooth.

      Hi slim247,

I have no idea how good Video DVD Maker is. Please try WinDV which is also a freeware, easy to use, and highly recommended

WinDV is a small and easy to use Windows application for capturing videos from DV device (camcorder) into AVI-files and for recording AVI-files into DV device via FireWire (IEEE 1394) interface.

I believe Nero has a video capture function as well, but I am unsure what kind of quality it posesses.
