DVD-R disc cannot be played by ANYTHING!

I recorded some shows onto a dvd-r disc using Samsung DVD Recorder (DVD-R120)...but the disc can only be played by that samsung recorder and by nothing else, not even DivX...also other dvd players and computers will just say "no disc" or "please insert cd"...etc...
    any ideas?

If some of your friends burn DVDs and use DVD-R media, see if their using a different brand of media than you. If they are, see if you can trade some discs with them. Maybe the brand of media you have isn't compatable with your other drives. You could also see if there's a region specific firmware update for your burner and go from there. But beware, do a google on your drive and go from there. Good luck

This link will bring you to the Samsung download page, here is the place you would download updated firmware for your recorder. Be careful though, if you download the wrong update for your drive it will not work anymore. Make sure you get the update for your region. Samsung also has instructions on how to flash the new firmware update to that standalone recorder, so you'll want to download that instructional also. Good luck!

Oh yeah, of course the DVD-R you burnt on that recorder works on that recorder, after all, you burnt the DVD with that recorder. CD-R and DVD-R media made by different manufacturers vary in quality and compatability, that's why one disc may work in one player and not the other. Okay?

Could be that you need to close the disc.
