Camera is defaulting to SP mode even though recording was in LP mode

Camera: Panasonic NV-MX3A (MiniDV PAL)
Age: 4.5 years

Problem 1: Record mode seems fine and I am able to record in LP mode. However, when I try to play back the recording, the camera defaults to SP mode and the LCD screen is blank. Any ideas? I have repeatedly set the camera to LP mode without success.

Problem 2: I get error F05 a lot. Solution is to open and close the tape a few times.

Is this camera just old and worn out?

check ur tape and try to play on somone else's camera , also let some tech see ur camera, may require service
