Back up skips but original doesn't

I recently backed up my copy of TenatiousD The Complete Master Works DVD using DVDD and DVD Shrink without any problems. I have backed up all my DVDs in this manner and never had an issue with playing them on either of my DVD players. One of my DVD players is a progressive scan and the other is not. Now with my backup of TenatiousD DVD, it will not play on the progressive scan DVD (jerks from one scene to another and there is not any sound even with progressive scan tuned off) player yet it plays fine on the non-progressive scan player and the original plays fine on both DVD players.

Can anyone speculate why the issue occurs with the backup???

Usually playback problems like these are due to a bad burn. What burner/firmware/media do you used?

Sorry if my question is a little dumb, but what is a progressive scan DVD?

Basically and I mean basically it scans ahead for problems at least that is what I was led to believe.That would be a progressive scan dvd player.

What is your Media ID? It is possible that it was a bad burn, even though it plays fine in another player. This has happened to me before, and I fixed it again by burning the disc again at a lower speed (4x is a good speed to use).

It has nothing to do with progressive vs interlaced scanning (see here for info on prog/interlaced).

geno888 is correct. Most likely, your player don't like your media but the other player does. So..............

It issue seems to be something else. The original dvd was produced by a company named Epic and specifically is titled "DVD Music Video". I burned the TenatiousD DVD again at 2X with different media and it skipped and would freeze the same way on the problematic DVD player.... I then back-up another a different Epic "DVD Music Video" at 2X with the same skipping and freezing outcome on both types of media (Verbatum and HP).

As you stated the progressive verses interlaced scanning did not have anything to do with the issue. I switched off progressive scan for the problematic dvd player and it made no difference. The trouble is backed-up movies using the same media batch work fine on the problematic dvd player. At this point the issue occures for only the Epic back-ups...

It has me a bit perplexed... If it is the firmware for the DVD player that is causing the problem wouldn't the movies backed up using the same media batch not work???
