    Sharpen Video.....

I have a video intended for a smaller screen then a TV. It was in this format when I dl it and I want to know if I can sharpen the video so it will be viewable on a TV. Sorry if this is explained poorly. I just need to sharpen a video. Ideas? TIA.

Check out AVISynth. I seem to recall someone over at doom9 writing a script especially for enhancing details/upsizing. You might want to check out the AVISynth forum over there. Plenty of regular filters for sharpening to:
    Main Page,Advanced Scripting Tips,Advanced topics,Arrays,Aspect ratios,AviSynth FAQ,AviSynth Syntax,AviSynth v3,Avisynth Plugin Development in C,Block statements,Changelist

what is the source of video since sometimes sharpening also causes
      artifacts.

But indeed Avisynth filters can help you in scaling and quality.
