    DVD decryption

Hi! I just bought a brand new DVD burner and have been trying to copy a store-bought copy of The Butterfly Effect.
I have run it through DVD Shrink, which decrypted and shrunk the original DVD. However, when I try and play it in my progressive scan DVD player it freezes after about 14 minutes and cannot be fast-forwarded or rewinded.
I tried copying the DVD again, but this copy stops at 6 minutes. Both copies seem to play normally on my cheap Walmart DVD player.
What am I doing wrong? Is it a normal problem with burned DVDs and progressive scan DVD players?

Will a different DVD burning software make a difference?
Is it perhaps the new DVD burner or the CompUSA generic blank DVDs?

Or just the fact that I am trying to burn a copyrighted DVD?

It is the process you now have to know and understand nowadays to do what you want to do.If you mean trying to backup a dvd that you own.

Not sure I understand you. I am quite new to all this DVD copying and burning.

DVD Shrink does a back up for me. It processes the DVD nicely and my resident DVD burning program burns the DVD. It plays in my DVD player but stops suddenly.

I was able to back up my copy of The Butterfly Effect using DVDDecryptor first then burned it using CloneDVD2. No problems at all with that process. Do you have Nero available to you on your comp? if so I would try to leet DVDshrink work with that to back it up and see how that goes.

The process is not causing me any problems. The DVD burns just fine and plays well on my cheap Walmart DVD player. However, when I play it on my Toshiba Progressive scan DVD player it the screen freezes on a frame and small square distortions appear in many places.
I have had a similar problem with some other DVDs that my friend burned for me. I am wonderign if it is perhaps the DVD player that's causing the problem.

It could be the DVD player. Do you know what speed your burning at? 4X is by far the best for good results.

                          It is CompUSA generic DVD+R.
I am not sure where to find the media ID

one of the golden rules. don't use crappy media. use sony or verbatim. is the firmware up to date on the drive? better go through TGROB again.
