Loading video from camera onto comp

Hi .. A friend at work ask me what he can do with his computer when it comes to loading video's from his camera onto his computer , At the moment Its a P3 Asus board ,with windows xp home sp2 , He has Nero 6 or 7 not sure , Camera gets connected on IEEE 1394 port , He said it takes forever to download a video from his camera onto his hard drive ( 3 or 4 hours ) I told him thats normal , Is there anything he can do to unload his videos quicker ? Thanks

iirc the capturing takes long as the video is being recorded to the harddrive and this usually takes as long as the playing time of the video is

    correct if i'm wrong anyone

          I dont think so.
I can only rip from my camcorder at the speed it is playing, so a 2 hour video tape takes 2 hours to rip to my computer.

When you are dealing with this kind of video fast is not a good thing.
If you could rip it faster it would probably give a very poor quality.

Just wait & see how long it takes if they want to put it to a dvd.
