You lost me on that "skipping disc". I downloaded an avi file which I watched on my pc but was curious as to why it needed to be authored before I could watch it on a tv screen.

unless your dvd palyer can play mpeg-4/avi/divx/xvid you will have to convert the file to vcd/svcd/dvd

        are you familair with this?

Am getting familiar the hard way. Downloaded an avi movie and it played fine. Converted same to dvd format and no audio, which I read that there are ways to extract the audio fom the avi file. But I guess more than anything I figured there had to be a dvd player that would play avi files. Do not know what they would be called though.

has to be a player that supports divx, if yours isn't one, you need to convert it.

your player would have something like DIVX / XVID / MPEG-4 printed on it in almost any case
