    I have NEVER seen this asked...

    Situation

    Deaf girl friend, hearing boy friend, DVD player only supports VCD's. I want interactive subtitles! Sometimes I dont wanna see it with subtitles. I have read EVERYWHERE and people only talk about specifics. I heard VCDs don't support menu/interactive subtitles. My best plan is to burn one VCD with subs and one SVCD with interacive subs, to use at a later date when we do have a SVCD player. (Note: i tried using subripper and it worked great, but saved it as a file nothing could read (i.e. everything was looking for a .srt, .ssa, etc.) Dear God please help. Thanx

    Look for information regarding MiniDVD and/or MicroDVD at the DVDDigest/DivXDigest sites...

      kinda better

      Well, after looking at some of my options I went with DVD2AVI which has been working great...except with trying to rip subtitles. I tried subripper, but it saved it in a unknown format I can't use. I tried SubRip and it seems to do well, except for it misses spaces sometimes and I can't figure out how to correct it. I looked under the character map and it seems to have them correct, but when it applies it to a subtitle ("ofe") i cant seperate the "of" and "e...(word)....

        No matter how many times I reread your initial post, it still sounds like you were seeking a way to be able to turn subtitles on and off "on the fly" - which is what I responded to.

        Your new post now makes it sound as if you need assistance in simply CREATING subtitles. Therefore, feel free to disregard my initial response - or store it away for future reference ;>}
