    How to condense an MPEG

I recently copied an 8mm camcorder tape onto my PC using Pinnacle's Studio 9 Plus. The file is approx. 5gb - too much for one DVD. I'm trying to figure out the best way to condense this file without having to edit anything out. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'll try it - but why is this particular app being lauded so much in this forum?

For me- It works very well.
It's really quick, very user friendly, seems to be a decent compression encoding and has been stable.
But most of all I'd say because it's dang cheap
