Ripping with subs

I was just curious, I was going to rip some DVDs of mine into AVIs with AutoGK. I wanted some subtitles, as I like watching movies with subs, but I don't want them permanently on top of the video. Is there a way to rip the subtitles with another free program that makes them a MPC sub compatible file, so I can load them if I choose?

In AutoGK, find the Advanced Settings to Use external subtitles. Once you have them separate, you can modify their format, if necessary, with Subtitle Workshop. I use BSPlayer, and it works with SRT subs. Not sure about MPC.

Start a command prompt (start - run - command/cmd), change to the directory where you have vobsub.dll and type "rundll32 vobsub.dll,Configure"

How do I do this? It is set in Docs and Settings/

you shouldnt need to do that. there should be a shortcut to it in the start menu. if not, go C:\Program Files\Gabest\VobSub (or wherever you installed it) and click the shortcut 'vobsub configure'

I'd use SubRip myself. MPC supports vobsubs anyway though so strickly speaking you don't need to OCR. Recently Gabest created his own subtitle format to.

I used Subrip.Pretty easy to use IMO.

Hello, I am an old lady tryiong to figure out all this. I have downloaded films with Limewire and subtitels. I have also downloaded VOBsub. But I do not sem to be able to go the entire process. I cannto find the Video_TS or any IFO file. How do I do it? Please explain with very simple words. I love comupters, but am very stupid and ignorant...
