That's not possible with VirtualDub. Use TMPEnc instead, see:

These guides describes how to convert a video to DVD, VCD, SVCD, CVD or AVI,DivX,Xvid, ASF and more.

    and

Be sure you will get version beta 12j because
    that's free, see

If by mpeg-2 you mean the Vob files from a DVD, then you will have to make a project file through DVD2AVI Nicky Pages dexcribes it here http://www.digital-digest.com/nickyguides/DVD2AVI.htm

Otherwise I've never really encoded in mpeg-2 video by itself so I'm not sure what the problem is.

Actually you can use VirtualDubMod or VirtualDub-mpeg2 to open the mpeg-2 files and encode directly to DivX or XviD without the need of DVD2AVI or DGIndex in this case

          Regards.

Just wondering, and please correct me if I am wrong, but is that Divx 4.11 encoder with the wink smiley a hacked Divx codec, and would it not present some compatiability problems with certian encoded files?

I remember reading about that some time ago, just curious.

            Here..I will fix it!

i think it was divx 3.11a that was pseudo-illegal, divx or ffdshow should decode without issues.

no matter now, quality is terrible compared to xvid ;^)
