Use DVD Decrpyter to rip the disk in File mode, then browse to the rip folder with DVD Shrink via Open Files, select the Main Movie and hit Reauthor, and then set the start and end frames for the part you want, and hit Backup.

    P.S. Welcome to the forum!

        Still need some help please

I successfully extracted the clip I was after but it gave me .IFO, .VOB, and .BUP files; how do I create an AVI or MPEG file so I can use it in a presentation? I'd like to have it in a powerpoint presentation or use it with windows media player for a presentation. I teach occasionally and this is a good way to add spice to my lessons.
        Thanks.

It's late and have no gumption to search. Whats the lowdown on converting VHS to DVD? Have an awesome collection on VHS and am considering upgrading it to DVD. What all would be required and would quality be compromised? Would I need a video card with DVI? Thanks, have to go now before I fall off the chair. Later!

Will check into this more after I regain my senses tomorrow, or is it today?

like paglamon said the vob is essentially mpeg already. simply renaming the extension to ".mpg" may be enough for you.
