    Chossing the right player

I recently downloaded a home cam (avi) movie. When i burned it to a cd, It plays at my house. However, I took the CD, and a player "nostra" even tried it with the "playa", to a friends house it didn't work. It just hase audio; no video. Does any one have suggestions: on why this happens or what i can do to play it at a different location than my house? Does any one know a player that I can download and use at a different location?
    Thanks

I down loaded the The playa bundle with codecs, and tried and failed. Is there any way to see what codec the avi needs.
It works on my PC, but i down loaded alot of codecs through the years.
