    Converting AVI to JPEGs

I have some astronomical video I shot, but due to wind vibration, there is a lot of shaking in the video and it's keeping me from taking measurements of the astronomical event. I need software, (freeware preferred, but I'll pay if need be) that will allow me to convert the AVI frame-by-frame or
field-by-field to JPGs in batch. I'm thinking once I get those, I can edit each JPG still image to line the images back up and then convert to AVI resulting in smooth video I can then run through my measurement software.

I realize this will be a tedious process, but the videos average 30 seconds or less each. Can anyone recommend software allowing me to convert AVIs to JPEG stills in batch?

AFAIK, if you open and edit/save JPEG files, they loose quality due to constant re-compression. Why don't you create all the images in bitmap (.bmp) format from avi file using VirtualDubMod's Save image sequence. You then edit them with your favorite editor and re-create .avi file the way you want

mplayer is another option. From recollection it can do jpg, png or tga. So basically everything that VDubMod can save. It supports far more input formats though.
