trouble with PAL DVD format

guys i need some help with this...

i can't seem to play PAL DVD format in my DVD-rom (BTC 12x). i can only run NTSC format in it. I use PowerDVD ver 2.55.

What seems to be the problem here?!?

Can't play as in you get Region-protection error or simply no playback?

the video is distorted, like i can only see black and green boxes scattered on the screen.. it is unviewable in PAL format, but when i load an NTSC-format DVD, it runs beautifully.... i can't seem to find any solution for this.. this is not normal isn't it? i think it is supposed to run without any problems. what seems to be causing this? thanks

Not a problem I've encountered though. You may want to try updating your DVD player software and also perhaps your video card driver.

ok i'll try that. hey dou you think you could give me a good link as to where i can download the latest PowerDVD for free? i have PowerDVD 2.55 with serial though.. i just wanna upgrade it to the latest version because this might solve it, i'm also currently downloading the latest directx drivers... thanks for the help. will keep you posted on this.
