Short Movies from DVD

I am looking for a software that will let me "capture" small snippets (30sec or so) from a DVD (internal on my PC). I have apps that will allow me to capture stills but none that will let me capture a 30sec sequence. any help on this greatly appreciated.

Im using DVDx 1.8a and it have been the answer for all my needs.

Including extract parts of movies (i was trying to do this for some time too).

DVDX have menus that allows you to select chapters and other features on the disk.

Then you can browse it, with bar and preview window, just like you do with a movie on windows media player.

That way, you can easily find the start point of the extraction.
Press encode and DVDX saves that portion on a archive in a place and format/compression of your choice.

Watch the preview window during the process. At the end of the material you want, press stop.

Thats it! You have a AVI file with just the scenes you want.
