Video Sound all over the place

I have all the south park episodes season 1-9.
I like to sometimes put them all in que and do random.
I use VLC Player, Media Player Classic, and Windows Media Player.
    I run Windows XP.

The problem I have is, I will set the volume for one file, then when the next episode comes on it might be super loud and makes me jump and have to run over and change the volume. Then the next one is all low again. Some people record stuff at different volumes. What player can I use to automatically adjust the volume for playback so they are all in the same range?

    Thanks.

    welcome to the forum

VLC should be able to do it, check normalizer settings. same goes with media player classic under options-->audio switcher so long as internal audio filters are enabled

also can be handled by the decoder, eg ffdshow

Thanks, I found the normalization checkbox for MPC, but shuffle does nothing in mpc apparently, so I want to use VLC then. In VLC the options it gives me are:

number of audio buffer: default 20
      max level: default 2.000000

what can I change here or is it already set up.

mouse over the boxes, you should see tooltips explaining the functions. 'max level' is what you'd want to change i guess.

        try clicking randomize too

hmmm everything seemed to be ok but now it got to an episode that was still very quiet. I'm using vlc.

          edit

just tried same two files in media player classic and it does normalize them.
