Original DVD Sound has a Hiss?

    Hi folks,

I didn't the answer to this question in my search ... so,

I have a Foreign DVD (Original) that it has a "MPEG-1, 2CH" audio (I found this via DVDShrink) ... My problem is that this Movie has an Annoying Hiss thorughout the movie.

Q: Is there anyway that I can fix this Audio for this movie? Preferrably with Freeware? If not what other software can do this? Or is it even doable?

    Thanks,
    G!

demux audio with decrypter's stream processing (or dgindex if you've already got the VOBs), open it in audacity, see if you can improve it. export as wav, encode back to ac3 and author

      Hi anonymez,

I just checked the DGIndex ... If I am not that savvy with "Commandline" type of application is there a GUI type application that does ssame thing as DGIndex?

I have Audacity and I have played around with it ... and I think I can figure that end of it.

      Thanks,
      G!

dgindex isn't CLI; run it, go file-->open, add the VOBS, go file-->save project and save. it'll demux all audio streams

            Hi Anonymez,

OK, I finally found time and used DGIndex ... as you said Loaded up the 4 vob's and said "Save" ... Now I have one big file .MPA.
((BTW, there were 2 other choices ... "Save", "Save & Demux Vid", or "Demux Audio Only" ... so I hope I chose correctly.))

I also figured out how to take the Hiss out of my above MPA(Mp3) file using Audacity ... pretty easy once you figure it out.

Now, that I have my clean Audio ... can you please tell me the followings ...

Q1: How do I encode my clean .WAV back into AC3? What freeware do I use?

Q2: After that How do I "Author" my new AC3 with my Video? What freeware do I use? Did I have to strip the Old Audio from my Video (Vobs)?

            THANKS,
            G!

it was never ac3, just a typo in my reply. for ac3 encoding i like behappy (ffmpeg/aften)

After that How do I "Author" my new AC3 with my Video?
dgindex to demux video, author with ifoedit or muxman

                Hi Anonymez,

Sorry about bugging you again ...

                1) I googled "Behappy" and I could not find one. Do you mean BeSweet?

                2) I could not find a source for the "ffmpeg" program!!! And from reading it seems too hard for me ... more of CLI!?!? Right?

                3) I did find "Aften" program and they have an application for Windows OS ... but it seems is more leaning toward "Linux" users.
Q: Is this any better than BeSweet and other freewares???

                4) BTW, about your AC3 typo comment ... so do you mean just leave my cleaned .WAV audio as such and use IFOedit to author ... merge (mux up) my Audio and Video?

                Thank You in advance,
                G!

you'll need avisynth installed as well as "nicaudio.dll" (from the above link) in your avisynth plugins folder

ffmpeg http://ffdshow.faireal.net/mirror/ffmpeg place in behappy's folder

Q: Is this any better than BeSweet and other freewares???
                  IMO yes.

no, my suggestion is you encode to ac3 then mux/author
