DVD Audio Leads Video after 15 minutes

Hi folks,

I have searched & searched but I did not find anything addressing my problem ... they are all dealing with AVI and DivX and so forth.
Also, I was not sure where to post this ... so that is why I am here under General Discussion Forum ... so I hope I will be excused and not killed!

My Problem: I have bought a foreign dvd ... I think the way this dvd was done ... maybe they had copied the program from a Satelite ... since when I try to back up it the title comes up as "JVC recorder something".
Anyway, the movie plays fine until about 15 minutes into it ... and that's when you can clearly see that AUDIO is leading the VIDEO by about, I would guess, 2 or 3 seconds.

My Question:
Q1: What is the Easiest Way (assume a "Newbie") to fix this problem, preferrably using Freeware? Also, any Guides!!!
Q2: If no freeware, then what program do you recommend? Again my focus is on a program that basically does everything for you ... just click and go!?!?

That's bad news - such an audio lag is way out of spec and indeed indicates that you have probably unfortunately got hold of a bootleg copy and poor excuse for a real DVD.

The only way I can think of is to remux the audio but the presentation timestamp in the audio packs are probably so way outa whack that it will be hopeless. Afraid you might actually have to buy this DVD again this time from a reputable source.

I have a similar problem; I purchased a set of car repair DVDs, & at certain spots throughout the DVDs, the audio "slips" out of sync - that is, similar to gonwk's issue; The talking leads the instructors' actual mouth movements by maybe 3 sec., but then it will "resync".

Does it off & on throughout the DVD, very annoying, was going to try to fix it, but thought it would be too big a project, since it slips in & out of sync at random spots...

@ blutach: Thanks for the reply. Assuming I want to give it a shot ... is there a guide for what you are suggesting and preferred programs!

@ Katz: Actually my problem starts at about 15 minutes into the movie and STAYS the same thru the remainder of the movie. So, it does not phase in and out like yours. Does it mean there is "Hope" for mine!?!?!?

I am having this problem with a Pokémon episode, I am using Audacity and the likes to speed up and slow down. It's a bit of a different project but the same idea - I am trying to make a dual audio video, since there was what was aired and then the DVD version. The one that was aired was a bit different speed due to the timeframe WB had, so I have to adjust piece by piece.
