what are streams when converting from vob to avi

Hello

I was converting .vob's into .avi's to play on my pocketpc using pocketdixencode. i am being prompted to select the audio stream to encode

stream 132 or stream 128.

for a second .vob i got the options, stream 131, stream 130, stream 129, stream 128 and for a third vob i got the options
stream 0, stream 7, stream 17 and stream 27


can you guys tell me what are these streams and which one should i go for?

Stream 128 = 0x80 = First audio stream (usually 5.1 in your language)
Stream 132 = 0x84 = 4th audio stream (probably a 2 channel director's comments track)

As for what's being shown in the 3rd VOB, that is bizarre.

I'd go for 0x80=128

hey i am not using 5.1 but a regular 2 speaker setup. do i still need stream 128, what are streams 129, 130 and 131?


i used dvd shrink and am sure selected the 2 channel version, why am i getting 5.1 auio on the vob's?

You don't need 5.1 on a 2 channel system, but most DVDs don't have a stereo movie track - just stereo director's comments.

To identify what the other IDs are, open the DVD in DVD Shrink and count down in order:

Audio Stream 1 = 128
Audio Stream 2 = 129 etc
