LCD Tvs - compatibility: England vs France

I am thinking of buying a decent LCD TV but I currently live in England and may move to France within a year.
I have heard that a TV bought in the UK will not work in France and VV.
Can anyone tell me whether this is correct, and why.

I'd expect that the built in DVB tuner (if it has one) wouldn't work, but I would imagine that otherwise it would work fine. Just buy a new HD set top box in France. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will answer though.
