Photos on television screen

1. Trying to put .jpg photos onto Kodak Preservaton Gold DVD-R with Windows XP 2003 Sonic software and the DVD is not recognized.

2. Got .jpg photos on Phillips DVD-R with Windows XP 2003 Sonic software, but when placed in cheap Ampex DVD player, message is "unknown disc". The Ampex booklet cryptically refers to Kodak T.E.

Do I need to get Kodak T.E. software to play .jpg on Ampex?
Do I need to upgrade the Sonic software to, say, Roxio Easy Media Creator?

Do you have any comments on what is going wrong in part 1 and part 2, especially the Kodak Preservation Gold DVD-R not being recognized.

Howdy!

Is the disc readable on another DVD player? It might be the Ampex player not recognizing the Photo DVD format.

If the disc does not play in another player, then perhaps the Sonic software is not creating the photo DVD properly.

Since the Ampex player is referring to the Kodak T.E. software, the player may have answered the question already. Obtain the Kodak T.E. program and it will probably work.

Slide Show on TV Right Now

Yep, I fooled around all evening, and found I could make a Video CD [VCD] with my Adobe Photo Album program. In that program, categories were already set up and now [on repeat] sunsets are passing by regularly on my parents' old Mitsubishi 2-ton television.

I thought everything in the Ampex DVD player had to be a DVD, but by golly, this works! The resolution is not so great, and the Adobe Photo Album had a critcism for seemed like every sunset. I can learn about that.

The 'free' Kodak Easy Something software had an error message and would not install. I suspect it did not like the old Sonic stuff. I gave up on that.

The Kodak Preservation Gold DVDs from KMP did not work, though the CDs did. Seems like web posters think it all a sham - sigh - anyway, I complained to KMP and we shall see if I get a response. They get 100 points if they do respond.

I don't have another DVD player or twin-drive system close at hand, and did not try that.

Anyway, the sunsets [mostly from Grenada in the West Indies] are passing by like a giant changing slide screen saver in my living room.

Have you Cropped your photos or adjusted them in any other way? I know that can stop them appearing on the screen with some DVD machines when they have been adjusted. I had that problem, myself. Also, DVD players and DVD recorders can display photos on the wrong screen format that's annoying. For example, an oblong-shaped photo will appear as a square on the TV screen and people's face will look oval-shaped. Some wide screen TVs have more screen format settings than others so there's a chance you might have more screen formats to select another to make your photos appear the way they should. I don't have that many in my wide screen TV so I'm in the dark for a bit. Mine has five screen formats and one of my brothers has eight.

Sorry if I rambled on, I thought you might want the extra information encase you wondered why the photos look wrong. If you still can't get them showing, it's true what RFBurns said, some DVD machines can't read photos. Also, some can't read music.
