Need Advise/Feedback-- Looking For High End Desktop Computer

Looking for an additional high end desktop computer, to replace my very first Micron year 2000 desktop with a 700 mhtz cpu processor with Me operating system.

I have been looking at the following locations and models:

Dell XPS 700 souped up basic only
    http://www.buyabs.com at their ultimate X9 models 2 and 3
    http://www.falcon-nw.com at a barebone mach 5 system

Some very general thoughts for what I am looking for:
    1. Can be AMD or INTEL
2 Maybe Raid 0 configuration with 2 SATA 160gb hard drives
3 The intel core 2 extreme X6800 conroe 1066mhz FSB 4M shared L2 Cache LGA 775 procesor 2.93ghz looks top of the line.
    4. The prices either for AMD or INTEL look about the same
    5. Would be willing to build myself if I can find all the right parts at a reasonable price. But the computer I am on now, is close to high end and I bought it as a bare bone model and souped it up myself. I believe the prices for buying a bare bone high speed or building a bare high speed are about the same.
    6. Going to stay with operation system XP home or professional
    7. Really need just the basic bare bone high speed. I can add optical drives, memory, modem, etc.
    8. If needed I could live without the IDE connections on the motherboard and go with ALL SATA connections for hard drive and optical drives.

So far the best price looks like the http://www.buyabs.com the ultimate X9 models 2 or 3 without the monitor, 5.1 speakers, keyboard or mouse.

    Any advice would be welcome.

I don't really reccomend buying or building highend top of the line computers,
you get a little better deal on the cpu with some but the price/performance ratio suffers and in a year or two it's obsolete anyway.

Start at newegg and buy a conroe 6400(very overclockable) see what motherboards work best with it, a very good heat sink, great power supply,
a gig of the best ram(pc6400 cas4) no better video card than you really need,
go for 300$ if you game, stay away from raid stripes, 2 serial hard drives at
the sweet spot(250 or 300 gigs).

save the 1000$ for the next computer
