Problems Burning DVDs in Nero

I have Nero 7 Ultra Edition and sometimes when I make DVDs in this with Nero Vision (I think its version 4 in this package) it will just freeze up, I have no idea why and it only happens occasionally and with certain files. (Only had it happen twice with two different avi files).

Any idea why this happens or how I can get around it?

Or is there a different/better program I could use that has the same abilities as Vision such as the making of pages ans putting in backgrounds and titles etc.

could be that nero can't decode/encode those files? TMPGEnc will do a much better job, make menus etc...
