    older dvd player

I recently purchased an older model Dvd Player. Pioneer d-414, about 6 years old, it came without a remote, (I have purchased a few players in the past without them), and bought a universal remote, the problem I am facing is , it will only recognize the "on-off" phase of the remote, I need to be able to use the up/down part of the remote, as I like to watch my backups of theTV series "24", the player will not recognize the up/down buttons to go from part 1 to part 2 Etc, Etc. Do I need a different remote, or is this model too old to work on this type of TV program as opposed to just playing a movie?
    TIA

Will your universal remote recognize this particular model??

Some newer remotes are programable but very expensive. Try different codes for the same manufacturer. Maybe you will stumble onto the right one.

(It worked for me with a Sears TV (which turned out to be an RCA)).
