    Strange format

I have an .avi file that Virtualdub tells me is an .asf
Upon trying to open it in Virtualdub 1.3 I get the error

"asf: parse error - too many segments in packet..."

The file info in Bink and Smacker tools tells me that it is a .avi but I get errors when trying to convert it "cannot open source" <---something like that.

otherwise it will play in any media player fine, but I would like to edit frames out of it and reincode it

what else could I try, has anyone come across anything like this before?

    Hi Buddy,

Use Tmpeg, but you would have to first convert it into MPG format, after which you can cut frames of it by using mpeg tools in TMPEG,

Let me now if u did it,
