    Editing DVD

I finally had some VHS transferred to DVD. I realize I can not edit these using Movie Maker now that I've tried with no results.

What do I need to have done to this DVD to make it so I can work with it?

I'm very new to this so any and all help will be appreciated.
    Thank You!

Depends on what you want to edit. If you just want to remove a few scenes, you could rip it to your PC and re-author it with DVD Shrink. That wouldn't require re-encoding. Womble also has several low loss MPEG editing options. There's also a program called ifoedit that I believe could help. You can, of course, also use the Forum's 'Search' function with a search term like 'DVD editing' and get lots of info.

For frame accurate mpeg2 editing I've always gotten great results with VideoRedo Plus. It's very easy to use, just load your mpeg2 or VOB file and make your edits.

As olyteddy says, it depends upon what you mean by editing. If you just want to make cuts, remove scenes etc. then a simple mpeg editor like VideoRedo will do that without re-encoding or quality loss. If you're thinking of adding effects, transitions, etc., then that's a whole other thing.

VideoRedo comes with a free trial:
