    Problem with .AVI

    Hey, I'm kinda new here, so sorry if this is not the right place to ask.
    I have a problem watching DVD and .AVI files. At first, I thought it was my RAM memory, but I can see .MPEG, .MOV and .VMV files without any problem.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    What problems are you having? If this is about watching them on your PC, what media player are you using?

      I use BSplayer ((Or windows Media... wait, does it count?))
      I have 2 problems:

      .The videos just freeze in some scenes while the sound is still playing;

      or

      .The video plays in some kind of slow-motion but sound is ok;

      Or

      .Sound starts playing about 5 seconds before the scene ((i.e., you hear someone's voice, but you don't see them gesticulating until 5 seconds after))

      Any ideas?

              Hi Maya-Nee,

              AMD-46 3d processor
              120 mb RAM
              476 MHz
              Do you mean AMD-64?
              Very little RAM & Slow Processer = poor performance when dealing with anything intensive such as video.

              Maybe turn off as many processes that are running in the background so as to devote as much "horsepower" to the video as the pc can muster.

              On an older pc that I had w/ little RAM, I used to disconnect from the 'net/turn off firewall/antivirus, etc., so I could work with video files.

              Just my .02
              regards, katz

                Hi, thank you for the welcome (:

                Yeah, about the RAM and the processor... I think you're right *cries*... But, how come I can see wmv, mov and mpeg videos without any trouble?
                If the performance is poor on avi, it should be poor on any video format, right?

                  Not quite. For high compressed video such as XviD, DviX, H264...you don't only need more power and memory but also better graphics card

                  Regards
