That HDCP is coming back to bite them in their arse. I have been beating that dead horse for a long time and it seems to have been his motivation for "breaking HD" encryption. I wasn't even going to consider HD but if it is possible to back up that changes everything. HDCP sucks, they are trying to make all of our stuff obsolete. An HDCP black box would be better but I don't see that happening. Unless I am wrong, has anybody seen such a thing?Comment

It looks like the OP of the HDDVD backup thread has laid the groundwork. And I'm sure a lot will be built using his method and improvements will be made.
Like in the movie Network, he ain't taking no more. Not registered Go here and click register to join the Digital Digest Forums

But when burners are still very expensive and blank discs cost as much as a pre-pressed movie, it will be awhile before this technology takes hold.
But with time (hopefully), we will see major price reductions in both.Gary D

HD and Blu ray lost there war on piracy but hey I'm not saying i did it but the companies thought that it would work to decrease piracy, as soon as blu ray and hd dvd came out it was de-crypted already and hit on the torrent sites. For me I was impressed that it had happend when it came out. The DRM companies should stop trying to protect the high tech dvd. heres my quote from a person "If it can be watched it can be copied." I'm not trying to promote piracy but I am saying as a fact, nothing can big can be stopped the only option is forget about it if it's not going to be stopped.

Interesting thread - pity the doomsayers (no pun intended) and the people who wanna discuss legalities are trying to hijack it.
