Ok I have followed all the steps to burn rip a dvd at http://www.how-to-create-divx.com/
I have 2 files of Rush hour 2 in .avi format
when i try to burn them on nero, it encodes it then comes up with
    a message like

    title: Conflict of burn settings

sorry , but writing multisession CD's (i.e. without finalizing) is
impossible with the currently selected recorders using this burning mode
how do you with to proceed

buttons: turn off multi session turn off DAO cancel

on my first avi when i did this i click "turn off DAO" and it burned it but i cant play it on my pc or dvd console.

on my second avi i click turn off multi session...same thing happend

does anyone have any answers for me
    Thanks a lot!!

I havent had luck with avi but i just convert to mpg and it works great it only takes an hour on my 1.4 athlon with 512 ram. rip the audio with virtual dub at 44.1 then save wave then imput avi into tempeg and the saved wave and you now have mpg.

Still when i try to burn my mpeg with that option checked in the previous post it wont play on my windvd or any dvd console. i made my mpeg by putting .wav and .avi together in TMPGEnc and converting in to mpg. I used nero to burn it on vcd mode. I dont know what is wrong what i am doing but there must be something i need to do to make it work.im using windows XP if you need to know that..... If anyone knows what i am doing wrong help me please. thanks very much!

                    Hi there,
So from all your posts i think you have created a MPEG
Does it play on your PC ?
If so, use Nero to create your vcd by:
open Nero up, find VCD, go NEW, find the MPEG on your hard drive, Drag it across, Click BURN.
Are you sure it will fit on a disc, check the time when you play it on your PC and depending on the size of discs your using, ie. 74 min, 80 min, 90 min or 99 min.
If it needs cutting use TMPGEnc to cut it, there is tutorials on how this is done at this site and many others including www.vcdhelp.com

Let us know how you get on

                    Cheers

I have tryed that a few times and i have tried different options. I have the newer version of nero because on the old ones when i tried to burn them it would say not enough memory and one of the other version froze everytime. and yes the mpeg plays on my pc.when i just go to video cd drag my first part of my mpeg in there then go click burn it will have that message in my first post. And now when i click finalize and turn off multisession it wont have that message in my first post but I have verify cd data or something checked and when it trys to verify it, it says it can't so do you have any ideas of what i am doing wrong. because when i burn it it just has like 5 or 6 folders and with all those folder it has as many megabytes as my movie is but it can't play. Thanks for all the help.

OK, you may have to re-explain whats happening, and not keep referring back to your first and second post cause your talking about avi files and NERO and MPEG files and NERO and it is very confussing what you are doing, well to me it is.

                            Cheers

                              Regarding your problem

I think you have to read in this link www.vcdhelp.com , find the section CONVERT (avi, DV, DIVX...), there´s a complete guide for converting divx to vcd or svcd if your trying to play the CDR in your DVD console.

I´ve used the tmpgenc for this purpose (converting DIVX to MPEG1(VCD) or MPEG2 (SVCD) depending on what you want to do. I also recommend you download the nimo bundle pack (use google or yahoo for finding it. Remember, use only CD-R 650 mb, or 700 mb that´s the better option.

I hope this working for you
