    Forum moving to new server

    Just got a faster server for the forum and am currently setting it up. Hopefully, the forum will be moved to the new server sometime within the next two days. There should be minimal disruptions, but the forum could be down for about an hour or two. None of the other sites should be affected.

    Will post updates to this thread, and once the move happens, please post problems in here as well.

          OK I tried to post the below just as you were shutting down the old board but it didn't take so I held on to it and posting it here instead.

          Something strange just happened
          Just for a couple of tries firefox couldn't connect to your server. I didn't pay much attention to that because of your move, but i pinged the server just to see if it was still up (which it was) But when I came back to my bookmarks to check to see if you where back up yet I found that the icon in front of your url was a damn YAHOO icon. You the one, the big red Y instead of the big D. So I deleted you out of my bookmarks and went to the forum home page and bookmarked you again. And this is what the bookmark name defaulted too.
          //forum.digital-digest.com/index.php
          "Digital Video Forums - Hacked by the MPAA"
          ????????

          And now your new temporary svr name defaults too:
          //svr04.digital-digest.com/forum.digital-digest.com/
          "Digital Video Forums - Hmmm ... glassyBlue (or default or Windows XP Blue)"

          And the old server with the link to the this temp url is back to it's origin name of "Digital Video Forums"

          Do you know about all of this.?

              Just try to bookmark or add this page to your Favorites again and you will see what I mean.

              Edited to add: Nevermind they changed it again.
              The hell with it I'm going to bed!

                Abuilder: The title of the forum (eg. "Hacked by the MPAA") randomly changes, it's always been like that.

                The temporary URL is designed to be used for preview purposes only, so you could sometimes get redirected back to the older server instead of staying on this server.

                The need to login again is because the URL of the site has changed for the preview and the cookie that was set for the normal forum.digital-digest.com does not apply for the temporary URL. If the IP address change has already happened for you (forum.digital-digest.com already takes you to the new server) then there's no need to login again, as your old login should still be remembered.

                There will be some weird things happening from now until the IP address changes fully take place, such as forum.digital-digest.com pointing between the old and new servers randomly (due to caching and depending on which name server you're connected to at the time). It should all sort itself out in the next few hours.

                  I never saw that before.

                  Does this mean the forum is getting to big for the old server?

                    I just got in again via the link from the moving server screen. I guess replication is not done yet.

                    there are many random sayings for the forum, a little while back anonymez posted a list of them here

                      I figured the random name change was suppose be like that after I checked it a couple of more times and one of them was "This forum will self destruct in 5 seconds"
                      LOL
                      BTW: That was about the most seamless change of servers I have ever seen.

                            forum.digital-digest.com is pointing to the new server for me now, so it should be pointing to the right place for most people around the world.

                            Go to the main forum index (forum.digital-digest.com), the top of your browser title bar should display these random message.
