Should i buy just 1x-2x discs? i have been buying the 16x b/c i use them for backup discs for music, dvd iso's etc....
I would not buy the 1x-2x disks, they take a really long time to burn compared to anything rated higher. I don't even know if they still are sold.

Like i said, you may want to post some media that doesn't work for you to a free hosting site and then I'll take a look.

Have you tried to play any non-mpeg2 based video on this unit?

      subtitles

just for archiving sake per the JAMO DMR-60,

I successfully used Sub2Divx to integrate subtitles into 1 file.

This program can add subtitles to an avi file using (up to 8) .srt or .idx/sub files and create a new .divx file

Yea, but what you dont understand is that my clients say that they work for them.. and i watch them before i give them the DVD... even if my DVD skipped or stopped i would still let them try it.. and they all work.. i dont understand..

What im trying to get at is WHAT do you USE in order for you ISO's, VOB's, and IMG's to work with the DMR60..

I'm going to burn a movie now that has XviD format on it.. see if that works...

i kind of understood that your dvds work for the ones you sell.

i just burn the videos using nero buring rom, thats it.

whether it iso's or just files, just nero.

if you backup a movie dvd that you bought and burn that to a dvd, does it work correctly?

I have only seen one other forum discussing these JAMO players (no activity though), everything else has been a press release.

I would try to have JAMO replace it.

                DMR 60 Problem

                hey guys and gals,

I had just recently bought a DMR 60 (today actually) from CompUSA and to tell you the truth....my experience with it is F***** UP!!!!
The reason for that is that it doesn't want to play anything!
Could any of you tell me if I'm missing something?
I tried every single format of CD/DVD out there and it just doesn't work!
When I put the CD/DVD in it says on the little display ..."Waiting....Loading....Open"... it does not even try to spin/read the CD/DVD!
Does anybody know what can I do about this? And if not do you know any contact info (telephone #'s or something else) that I contact JAMO with?

                Your input is greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the help and much appreciated.

                    Hey Deft,

Excuse me for my lazyness...but could you tell me how exactly you fixed that problem...because I tried to read back but didnt see anything that is an exact thing as what my problem is.
You said that yours plays a certain CD/DVD for about 30-60 min.....mine doesnt even do that!
I actually checked the parrental settings and the password and actually I had to put 0000 to unlock it thinking that this is going to fix it just to realize that nothing had changed!
                    Thanks!

I didnt mean to say it in a "harsh" way. Was your box damaged? demo version? was it one of those "was, now" prices? I know alot of Compusa's are closing and they are slashing the **** out of the prices. I got mine on SALE, but now they are DEMOS and selling for under 500 dollars.

What im getting at here is. Mine plays DVD's (store bought, rented) fine.. but like i said in past replys.. mine dont even work with burned DVD's.

What you CAN do is try the region hack:
                      Region code hack:
on Player /Open/ (/eject/), then on remote /stop/ then /9735/ and then go to /setup/ ant choose no region.

Maybe yours is set to 3,4, or 5? make it a 0 and bam play any DVD you want.. unfortionatly in my case IT DOESNT ****ING PLAY DVD-R's WHEN IT PLAY LITERALLY ALL FORMATS!!!

yeah...I got mine from a forclosure store...and YES it was under 500 dollars ..however it was NOT a demo it was a "never" opened box so...
Thanks for the TIP man...I'll try it right away!
..oh and I noticed something else, when the player is open I tried to push the CD carrier back...but it does not close automatically..u have to push it all the way back...which I thought was kinda of odd!...

well tried that ....and.....NOTHING!!! same bullcrap... you were right by the way...it was set to 1...but didnt do anything when I changed it....
I think my problem is not with the software but the hardware...there has to be a fabric fault or a defect somewhere around the reader....because it doesnt even try to spin the CD/DVD...
I already called JAMO today and the lady I talked to was very polite and she told me that a lot of people are having issues with the models that were bought from CompUSA...so...Im waiting for the return letter to come in the mail and sending that crap back and getting a new one!

Deft, hopefully you'll get a working unit.

My only issue with the unit is indirect. Apparently via coax digital 1 channel from digital cable box will sound low (or not at all) however every other channel is fine. I believe the channel/cable box is the problem, not the dmr60.

What would make this unit even better was if it was networked receiver.

                              ---------------------------
the channel volume issue above is definitely the digital cable box.
