Not unless I have to. I tend to avoid any form of 'dot NET' stuff.

        Decided to go for it.

Updated to Microsoft .Net 3.0 and updated Microsoft DirectX 9.0c version
which I think the latest is February 2007.

Nice overall speed increase, finally Microsoft did something for us.
Had to clean-out the registry and defrag, but a noticeable speed increase.

Thanks for the info ed, to be honest i dont even know how to check what framework im using.but i did check to see what direct x ver. i have

I found this in Dvd Shrink FAQ

          Latest Microsoft DirectX installed?

DVD Shrink uses the Microsoft DirectX APIs. You need to have the latest Microsoft DirectX 9.0c installed on your system to accomplish this. The old versions (if you refer to v2.3 and v3.0b) did not use Microsoft DirectX, so this problem is unlikely to happen. The use of Microsoft DirectX was introduced to allow for audio preview.

If you don't know which version you currently have installed - do this:
          Click Start in Windows desktop
          Click Run
          Type dxdiag
You will now see which version you have installed
If you have an older version than 9.0c installed - download the latest Microsoft DirectX version. Make sure you select the right language version.

When I return back to work I will find out what has changed between version 2 to version 3. And determine if we really need to actually have to do the update. The directx 9c update was released last October 2006.

After you update net framework do you remove the old one?

                    @BR7 and Soup

You do not have to remove the old version of .NET, here is what is showing in my add/remove programs.

                    Microsoft.NET framework 1.1
                    Microsoft.Net framework 1.1 hotfix (KS886903)
                    Microsoft.Net framework 2.0
                    Microsoft.Net framework 3.0

I think it is because if you ever wanted to roll-back to a previous issue you could just remove the one you didn't want, since they all work on a standalone basis.

I get my Microsoft DirectX updates from this location:

Experience the new generation of games and entertainment with Xbox. Play Xbox games and stream video on all your devices.

Yesterday I updated from version 9.0c dated August 04 to version 9.0c the latest, approximately 14mb update.

I can't find it at their location www.hippo.com but they showed at least seven versions of 9.0c alone with the dates of each version.

Microsoft just updates from what ever version of 9.0c you have on your computer to the latest available from Microsoft.

FileHippo has an update on the DirectX that says Feb 2007.

@ anybody, how big is your Net 2 file in Add/Remove? Mine is 89 MB's.
