Avi to Divx (if it is possible)

Is there some way to convert an .avi movie to a divx movie?
or simple to compress it, without loosing quality?

In the case of converting a non-DivX AVI file to a DivX-compressed AVI file, you can use Virtualdub (or nandub) to do the job.

there is another problem: the movie WAS Divx, then I used Virtual Dub to sincronize the sound with the video. then, when it was saving, i saw that the size of the file was getting 2 times it was before. where in Virtual Dub I set or put to it save in Divx format? I need what version, because mine is 1.4d ?

Set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copying"...

Set both 'video' and 'audio' to 'direct stream copy'.
