What is a VIDEO_RM Folder And The Files Inside Used For?

I made a copy of a 1 hour television show the other day using a mpeg DVD-Recorder with a 80gb hard drive (40 minutes show and 20 minutes commercials). Put the show on a DVD-5, DVD+R without the commercials.

Can anyone tell me what the VIDEO_RM folder and files are use for?
