    managing large avi files

I recently downloaded loads of hi8 footage via 'Dazzle' & find I have a single file of 98gig- every time I try to open or do anything with it the prog. freezes(Pinnacle 10) - how do I manage a file like this?
    thanks

Virtualdub should open it immediately, from there you can cut it up into multiple segments for example.

Thanks for the Virtual Dub - the problem is when your trying to earn a living & raise 3 children you don't have time to look in to the intracies of digital video ( & my are there intracies) - you download your precious family footage thinking that the end result is managable & wouldn't not just sit there like a big lump of granite on your drive - but fortunately we have these forums where people talk normally & not computerspeak like the maufacturers 'help systems'

I second anonymez, VirtualDub is a very reliable and kind of an all in one Video Editing tool for general usage.
