    XBox 360

I'm wondering, is the XBox 360 able to play DVD HD discs? I'm asking because my scart lead has six plugs and a switch on it. It has the video and audio leads for the normal use and the video and audio leads for HD. I know this because the switch can be switched to HD. I don't know if an XBox 360 came out without me knowing and the wrong scart lead was packed with mine. I'm aware that I'll need an HD TV to play DVD HD discs.

    Many thanks.

    Darren.

The Xbox 360 only has a DVD reader drive in it, so it won't be able to read HD DVD or Blu-ray. The HD output is for games and WMV-HD movie files that you can download through marketplace, or stream from your computer.

But if you buy the HD DVD add-on drive ($US 199.99 - http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x...0hddvdplayer/), you will then be able to play HD DVD movies.

Many thanks for the help. At the moment I won't be buying the Add-on because the DVD HD films are still too expensive. I never rush into buying new things like these because the prices soon drop. This is why I can't understand the mad dash for the PS3 because not only is the PS3 very expensive, so are the games, just like DVD HD players and TVs so expensive along with the films. I'd rather wait a year or two and everything is a lot cheaper. That is why I bought my XBox 360 late last year. Now a lot of the games are on offer.

The PS3 will NOT be dropping in price...ust don;t look for it to happen.
        The reasons?
Primarily because of it's features in relation to stand alone units of each.
Sony really screwed the pooch with the PS3.. they are going to have a hard time recovering from it...what I expect to see in the future is a scaled down model of the PS3 with less capabilities.
I couold talk all night bout the drawbacks of the PS3...... but I won't.
Stick with a 360 or the family oriented Wii..which will be the dominate consoles for the following year(s)..imo.
