Swaping fields without swaping the content...

    Hi, I am fernado Martinez.

I was having this problem with my capture card that it keeps labeling the first field A and because of that Media Player shows excessive interlacing artifacts.
I know this because when I encode this huffyuv video to dvd using TopFieldFirst the resulting video plays better then the original huffyuv under WMP.

For Directshow (WMP), download & install a recent ffdshow build and see the deinterlacing section. If the VFW decoder has the same problems, open up Huffyuv config (via Virtualdub's VFW Codec list, for example) and check the box to swap field order during decoding.

Dear Moderator, isn't that cheating on the player? I want the file to be encoded that way not post processing after the fact since it will probably have a choppy playback.

Then you'll either have to capture again (and this time set the field order correctly in the capture application) or just re-encode as TFF. Why would WMP playback matter anyway? I'm assuming you are using Huffyuv only to re-encode afterwards.

since it will probably have a choppy playback.
Unless something went wrong, no it won't.

I downloaded ffdshow. I know I would get the icon by my clock but when I do things like edit music etc, I get three of those icons by my clock that turn into four, five and six and they drop and raise back to six. It's so annoying when that happens. I know it's doing it's job when it happens but it's annoying when I see them spread, go down, spread again, go down again and spread again. I honestly can't see the point in this software because I haven't noticed any changes from it.

          Darren.

You can disable the tray icon in ffdshow's configuration.

It allows your PC to decode many common (and some not so common) audio and video streams. If you feel you don't need it, simply uninstall it.

I read on another paranormal forum that you can't actually playback huffyuv files too file since they never were created for playback but to convert them to another format... ¿Do you think ffdshow will play my huffyuv as its dvd version?

Oh and I use WMP because it has a more natural way of playing video epcept for huffyuv.

Lossless video codecs are normally used for editing purposes, and aren't usually practical for archiving due to their enormous file size. That does not mean you cannot play them though.

If by that you mean can you set the field order in ffdshow, the answer is yes.
