    Plasma Or Lcd Tv?

Hi guys, sad that rules had to change

Anyway I'd like your opinion on the best TV to buy. Have searched and found a couple of posts on this but would still like to ask further.

I'd like to buy a wide screen TV. Which is the best to buy Plasma or LCD?

The second question is, i hear there are other Tvs that can record live TV, built in DVD and hardrives etc Has anybody had an encounter with those?

At the stage I am considering to buy Samsung PS-42QP or Samsung PS-42C7, any experience on this two products?

I would go with the plasma. I think it has a superior look to lcd. And it also looks good from angles unlike a lot of lcd's. I have a panasonic.

Once you decide between plasma and LCD (I vote plasma for viewing angle, and LCD for brightness/contrast), you should also look at the the resolution of the screen you are buying. I don't think it's worth bothering getting a 42" SD display like the Samsung PS-42C7 (852 x 480 according to http://www.samsung.com/my/products/t...v/ps_42c7s.asp). You should really be looking at at least 720p (1280x768, 1366x768) or if money is no object, an 1080p screen (1920x1080).

Other things you should look out for is HDMI connectors (the more the better).

Then after all this, you can look at the other features like built-in DVD recorders and hard-drives. Personally, I prefer to get separate components for DVD/HDD recording - this makes it easier to upgrade/repair them in the future.

I prefer LCD myself. No glare, excellent viewing angle, no burn-in. Plasma is great for a theater type setup (dark).

          Same here.

Thanks for your input guys, after a considerations and financial limitations i decide to go samsung PS-42Q9 somebody told me that its much safer from kids than the sensitive LCD.

Now I have a new problem.

I conneccted and the TV plays just fine. The problem is i look at the back of the tv and i dont know how the hell to start connecting my DVD to this thing. Most of the website pages I found are way too technical for my understanding and they dont show the how part.

I need the dumbest guide to connecting my dvd to the plasma. Any idea on this?

It depends on several things, such as if you are using a home theater, standard or HD DVD player?

The Samsung site seems to have some good guides, hope it helps.

If it has HDMI, use it to connect your DVD player... I have a 50" Zenith Plasma with an upconverting DVD player via HDMI an it looks awesome....JM2cents worth!
