    Playing a PAL disc

Hi...I want to purchase a PC game from the UK and the seller states that the game is in PAL and that it only plays on drives from Australia, UK, and NZ. My laptop is from Canada, but I have been able to play DVD's from Australia (I live here now). WIll this PC game play on my DVD drive? or would I be wasting my money. Is there a way to check the setting of my DVD drive to see if it will work?

    THanks
    Peter

I don't think PC games have regions, or having any PAL/NTSC differences. PAL/NTSC only applies to video (eg. DVD movies played on a standalone DVD players that you connect to your TV) or console games (eg. PS2).

It is strange that the seller would state that the PC game is only playable on certain drives ... either he doesn't know what he is talking about, or there is something funny going on. Either way, you should be a bit suspicious.

Here is the link for the game....below is also the email message that the seller sent to me. All the games that I've looked at state PAL as their format.

Hi. There are different types of format out there - PAL is the european, austarlian & new zealand standard. As you say your laptop is from canada then you will not be able to play the PAL format only the NTSC format. For more info on this try a search engine. Hope this helps.

PC games (and PCs themselves) don't have systems, so any game should play anywhere. The eBay "Format" for PC games don't really mean much, it's only meaningful for console games (eg. PAL machines won't play NTSC games and vice versa).
