DIVx 1.8 Problem on Win NT and Win2000

Does anyone know this problem on Win NT and Win2000. When I start Divx I get this error message:

Cannot find the ordinal 11 in DDL file DSOUND.dll

    The application won't start.

    Thx , Roel.

    Also problem on Win98

I have installed Win98 and have the same problem with Divx 1.8 on Win98 as well. Is it possible that it is an hardware problem? I have installed this on my laptop an Compaq Armada 500E with 256MB memory and 12GB harddrive an internal DVD-Player?

    Anyone?

    Thx Roel.

        divx vs windows

i have also noticed that older versions of windows and older visions of divx have no support at all. I could be wrong but i believe windows was reluctant to produce support for the older formats due to the issues around stolen code, but windows has been forced recently to take this codec into concideration due to the explosion of it's use. this is just what could be the issue, but i'm not the expert. I know nt is hard to get any codec to work accept wm8. no support in codec library for anything else.
bummer m$oft owns you when you by there os. like a deal with the devil for your soul.
        hehehehe
just joking <~ to all the wm8 fans
wm8 is still a good codec that is supported by almost anything.
        eternal peace
