JVC GR-D33U help please!

I've had this jvc camcorder for about 2 or 3 years now and havent really messed with it much. I just got a brand new computer and have it connected to the firewire port..the computer wont detect it for some reason. I dont have the manual for it so maybe I'm just not doing something right. If someone could help that'd be great!

Please make sure the camcorder's power is on and in the "Play Back" mode and you can use WinDV to capture the movie

jvc designed that camera to work with TI chipset firewire

agere, via, etc won't work right
