    What have i done!! I've lost the picture for all my movies!

    I"m not exactly sure what i have done. I was trying to convert an avi file to DVD format, which didn't work for some reason. But when i attempted to play the original avi file, there was no picture, just swirls of colour with the sound. I tried 2 more of my videos with the same result. I am assuming the conversion wouldn't have anything to do with picture loss as its for all my videos.

    I realised after I'd done it, but i deleted a J2SE runtime environment update . Could this be the reason that i can't see my video picture? I have re updated Java since, and it says i am up to date. But i still cannot see a picture.

    Please help!! As basic an explanation as possible please as i am not what you'd call IT smart! lol

    Just wanted to add that i have run the file through GSpot, and it has said some stuff, tho I'm not really sure what i am doing.

    It says :

    Partial Render Failure:Following is the error reported by DirectShow
    0x00040257:[unknown]
    More specifically, the audio could be rendered, but the video could not:
    (Src)-->>--(A)-->[AVI Splitter]>--(B)-->[MPEG Layer-3 Decoder]>--(C)-->[Default Direct Sound Device]

    I am sooo confused!! NOw i "think" i have fixed it. I put it through DVD Flick and now i have sound AND picture! I would still like to know what i did tho...
