The good news is your firmware is the most current...the bad news it hasn't been updated in 3 years.

Disc Manufacturer ID: MCC, Media Type ID: 004
    Nice shiney new 16X Verbatims...

    Sense Key: 0x03 (KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR)
But the old firmware doesn't know what to do with them...I see two choices:

    1. Try and find some older Verbatims or Taiyo Yudens, 8X would be best bet.
    2. Purchase a new drive.

Either one would be feasable since a new drive costs about as much as a spindle of media these days..relatively cheap.

    File 'Drivers\CDRALW2K.SYS': Ver=8.0.0.212 , size=2560 bytes, created 4/22/2007 7:15:25 PM
You also have Roxio which might be causing some conflicts with Nero... I recommend RoxioZap

possibilities: (listed in my guesstimate of what's wrong)
          1. burner's bad
          2. firmware is too old to burn those 16x dvd+r's
          3. nero is corrupt, the sonic driver/roxio whatever

          try imgburn

imgburn will tell you if the disks can be seen right when you load one

should show all the burn speeds supported

I would buy an external anyway, slimline drives are iffy at best, better saved for things like reloading the system and necessary use.

have you tried the new hp burner?
