    converting musc dvds

I've recorded some music clips from television to vhs then put them onto dvd. They play fine on the tv and the computer but I want to save individual clips to avi or mpgs so I can post them on youtube. Can anyone help as how to convert them as when I open the dvd it plays straight away so I can't view any other info such as files.

Convert each clip from vhs to mp2 separately. If you are interested too post in YouTube, it will better if you chose RealMedia format.

Otherwise, you can try this [never tried myself as i never encountered any need ]:
Load the .vob file in your DVD in VirtualDub and then cut and save the files separately using this software.

I have the files on dvd but they are not mp2. When I put the dvd in my computer it starts the clips straight away so I don't even know what format they are.

You say you don't know the format but know they are not mp2, umh!
Ok if you hit the shift key upon inserting disk it will not autoplay..
Also right click pc player >properties>autoplay> check "prompt me each time to choose action.
I would try Super or FairUse Wizard to convert and post on youtube...
